Entrelac on a Knitting Machine:</h2>
<div>
One of our very talented machine club member gave us a demo on Entrelac. Thank you Mary Beadle!<br />
<br /></div>
<div>
It is a bit challenging at first but once you get the turn ends sorted out the rest moves along nicely. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I am making a pet blanket for our cat "Miss Jenny". She is always in my knitting room while I'm working on it sleeping on my bulky machine. I think she is just making sure I'm doing everything properly!</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
This project is very time consuming as you are only working with 10 needles at a time for this project using a lot of waste yarn and picking up of stitches as you move across. It is progressing just not as quickly as I would like but I'm trying to be patient. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Here is Miss Jenny keeping eye on me and catching a few z's<br />

Here she is in October 2017 still wearing the sweater and apparently it is her favorite according to her grandmother Bev who sent me this delightful email.<br />
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal">
Hi
Marg, I was at Stephen and Robyn’s yesterday and I told Mabel that she needed
to wear a jacket to go outside and she said, no she was going to wear a
sweater, and here she is with her choice of outerwear!! Thought you might
like to see that it is a favourite and has been worn and worn! She even
used the hood when it got cooler!<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
After
her bedtime bath I changed her into her p.j.’s and we went downstairs for a
snack, but she was cold, so I asked her to go up and get her cozy housecoat,
but once again, she came down with your sweater on over her pyjamas :-)

You knitted a winner!<o:p></o:p></div>

Ivy Florence Rayne Daley has arrived! She was born August 23rd, 2017 at 3:48 p.m weighing in at 6 lbs. 12 oz and measuring 20 inches. Both her mom and Ivy are doing just great.</div>

Here she is wearing the little sweater I made her and also being held by my daughter (Ivy's grandmother) in the blanket I made. Ivy is coming to visit later this week and we can hardly wait. So precious!</div>

New Great Grand-daughter arriving in August!</h2>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;">I am working on several little items for this new little person that will be entering our lives very soon.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">Out came my trusty knitting needles and of course my most favorite machine, my LK 150 plastic bed and some Bernat Baby yarn. Worked from a pattern on the internet for the sweater which can be found at:</span><br />
<b style="background-color: white; font-family: verdana, geneva, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: large;">https://tinyurl.com/yb8xbh79</span></b><br />
<b style="background-color: white; font-family: Verdana, Geneva, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 16px;"><br /></b>
<br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;">First, I hand knit a little sweater for her</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEijwtCZSe8wJYkQyCP8czEbOh4YsmXA6KDa02Zsv9r2l8v7CSffKumP5T_VMVRoTU6jOCUNcgjQQNPWGJ8iHGxAiYzzKI84rZlAJvSJrLRi6JIauXASaMsIPrOT3-YoWwdrrFpRnMPn8D0/s1600/2017-07-20+22.52.49.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-size: large;"><img border="0" data-original-height="900" data-original-width="1600" height="355" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEijwtCZSe8wJYkQyCP8czEbOh4YsmXA6KDa02Zsv9r2l8v7CSffKumP5T_VMVRoTU6jOCUNcgjQQNPWGJ8iHGxAiYzzKI84rZlAJvSJrLRi6JIauXASaMsIPrOT3-YoWwdrrFpRnMPn8D0/s640/2017-07-20+22.52.49.jpg" width="640" /></span></a></div>
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">Then I decided to do a blanket which turned out to be a very good project to work with a graph and reversing stitches. Even more surprising this little blanket looks great either side so that was just a bonus and a very delightful discovery when I was blocking it.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>

<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;">I folded one third of the blanket to show the public and private sides of the blanket - either one works for me</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;">I just completed a circular blanket that maybe our little bundle could come home in ~ wouldn't that be delightful. </span><br />

I think the round one needs a little more steam as it is not laying as flat as I would like it. Will get that done before I gift it to my Grand-daughter when the new little one arrives. </span></div>

NEW VEST FOR HUBBY!</h3>
<div>
Hubby asked me to knit him a vest with pockets and buttons down the front.</div>
<div>
That was okay until he said "Could you knit that up in black yarn?" - WELL, as we get older I think the dark colors are hard for us to see and I for one do have a big problem with them.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I decided to give it a go and for this project I used my Singer SK 155 with ribber and it went quite well - the knitting part that is. When it came to seaming I did have a little trouble there but got it done!</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I crocheted the button/buttonhole band but otherwise the rest was done on my machine.</div>

Here is the final result.</div>

<h2>
Canada's 150th Birthday - July 1, 2017</h2>
<br />
Our knitting group has put out a challenge to make something to celebrate Canada's 150th birthday. I decided to knit a flag which when blocked, sewn and lined will become my sunglass case in the car. <br />
<br />
I downloaded a pattern and did the whole thing using my Intarsia Carriage on my SK 360 Standard Machine. <br />
<br />
What a fun project! I'm anxious to see what others in our club have come up with to celebrate as well. <br />
<br />
I am thinking of a sweater with the maple leaf on the back and maybe CANADA printed somewhere... Have to use red and white of course but I may do the bulk of the sweater in grey with black outlines or interesting bars..... Still working on that one!<br />
<br />
Here is the first photo of my little sunglass case as it has come off the machine.<br />

Sweater/Jacket for Grand-daughter "Maddy"</h4>
<div>
I finally finished this basic crew neck cardigan/jacket with set in sleeves. Maddy didn't want buttons/buttonholes (which was great as far as I was concerned). She prefers to wear these sweaters loosely or wrapped around her therefore no need for buttons/buttonholes...</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I used my old Knitware program size 38 (as she likes her sweaters kind of roomy) which should be fine for her slim trim figure. My knitware program still works on an old laptop I have with Windows 7 and I would be most upset if I ever lost it as it is such a great program.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>

Here is a quick photo of the final cardigan/jacket. Colour is a lot lighter than the actual but close enough.<br />

Intarsia is fun!</h2>
Our knit club asked me to do a demo on intarsia or picture knitting. So I got to work and came up with a simple block pattern that would teach them how to move from color to color and a how to create and read/follow a graph. It was a fun day and I think a few were inspired to go home and give it a try. Hopefully we will see some of their endeavours at our March meeting/knit-in.<br />
<br />
Here is a small sweater I did as a sampler:<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj3Q7MoEkLqVWmATSYd2AsYazSLuglqTE1O-0UbaOkrh8aBv_FCvCDAH9qQI4y7BmdIRu1MZoOCfgHq1F44Wf0TgokuEgVZN0LZtYLqfBMcHVnN6WxxY4i2vRWqkdGhKzw59YvABgfT2kM/s1600/2017-02-26+05.29.30.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="356" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj3Q7MoEkLqVWmATSYd2AsYazSLuglqTE1O-0UbaOkrh8aBv_FCvCDAH9qQI4y7BmdIRu1MZoOCfgHq1F44Wf0TgokuEgVZN0LZtYLqfBMcHVnN6WxxY4i2vRWqkdGhKzw59YvABgfT2kM/s640/2017-02-26+05.29.30.jpg" width="640" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Made using my LK150 and AG10 Intarsia Carriage<br /><br /><div style="text-align: left;">
This little project also gave a lesson on seaming which can always be a challenge. We looked at how to deal with all the ends that needed to be dealt with when the project was finished and also how to deal with the yarn color changes as they occur so we wouldn't have any unsightly holes!</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
I think it was a great learning session and I sure enjoyed "playing" with intarsia myself.</div>
</td></tr>

Roly-Poly Clown:</h2>
<div>
I have had several requests for this pattern so I'm making it available here for anyone that wishes to give it a try. Have fun with it. A lot are making them up to give to the fire and police departments to hand out to small children when under stress after an accident or fire etc. Great idea.</div>

Getting Ready for Easter~</h2>
<div>
Our Knit Club put out a challenge for each of us to come up with something we could make using an Easter theme.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I found an adorable sweater with a bunny on the front which was a hand knit pattern (you can see it here <a href="https://www.dropbox.com/sh/z1n873acmah6kge/AACh4MdMtSrtEG8m79F0HjiLa?dl=0">Easter Rabbit Sweater</a> ). There was a bunny graph for the back which I didn't do for this project.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I decided to use my LK150 for this little project and after doing my swatch, I rounded up the yarn and used my Knitware program for a basic child's 26" chest sweater. The graph was great and gave me the opportunity to use my Intarsia Carriage which has been sadly neglected for a long time. I really enjoyed this little project.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I will be donating this sweater to our local Women's Resource Centre and hopefully some little person will have fun wearing this on Easter. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Here is a photo of my little project. </div>

<br />
The bunny turned out to be about 10" tall and was hand knit but the pattern could easily be done on a knitting machine as it was knit flat and seamed. There was a couple of sections that would have to be done in reverse such as the arms to get the proper gathering. Also the bottom of the legs I would cast on every other needle then immediately bring all needles into work to get the proper gathering there. Around the neck there is decreasing and increasing of stitches which could be done using waste yarn or a garter bar. The little hat is made in such a way it has a slit to accommodate the bunny ears!<br />

Christmas Stockings - 2015</h2>
Every year our Knit Club makes Christmas stockings and gives them to the Women's Resource Centre for mothers and children that may be there over the Christmas season. Local stores donate lots of goodies to stuff the stockings. We make enough that there will be one for each bed and a few extras "just in case". Some of the pretty ones are for the mothers and some are more for the children of all ages. <br />
<br />
So far this month I have done three. Two are pictured below and the third is a work in progress which I will post when completed.<br />
<br />
All the socks are made from the same basic pattern. They can be done on a standard, mid-gauge or chunky/bulky machine. Fairisle can be used, intarsia, beads or whatever strikes your fancy. <br />
<br />
This year I seemed to be fair isle inspired at least for the first two but the third one is completely different. You will see soon.<br />
<br />
The pattern if you wish to give it a try is here: <a href="https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/7936891/CHRISTMAS%20STOCKING%202012.pdf">Christmas Stocking Pattern</a><br />

A "Minion" sock for some little person who loves these silly critters! I followed the basic sock with a black bar and blue foot. The bib and straps were knit on later. Spiral Hats</h2>
Some time ago I saw a TV program with a charming knitter showing how she made hand knit spiral hats. I thought I bet this could be done on a knitting machine. So I got out my trusty LK 150 mid-gauge and played around with it.<br />
<br />
Because there was a lot of turning of the fabric I chose my garter bar to make things easier. That said, one could easily do the same with a circular needle or waste yarn. <br />

Socks & Slippers!</h2>
I had a fair bit of the Roselan yarn leftover from my little pouch pocket sweater project so I decided to use it up on a couple of small projects.<br />
<br />
First I made my favorite slippers (Diane Sullivan's pattern from "Footnotes") using my LK 150 once again. I found some cream Roselan to use for the inside lining. Just love these slippers - so easy to make and no sewing!!! Another great Sew As You Go project<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhkN9iqiaiU4vC3OII1KtINK7OHqUCtKgb1r1gk6YYGm0EoMQrEhmrb4XXRs2464ZpJQDmyP9HLjPZVPMUBkbPj7ZsAAAf_AtgC-Ydx_Dmo1imyYDsgvQHOH6Ts_dCMeLO7nhKGYnwqZPw/s1600/2015-06-08+05.51.45.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhkN9iqiaiU4vC3OII1KtINK7OHqUCtKgb1r1gk6YYGm0EoMQrEhmrb4XXRs2464ZpJQDmyP9HLjPZVPMUBkbPj7ZsAAAf_AtgC-Ydx_Dmo1imyYDsgvQHOH6Ts_dCMeLO7nhKGYnwqZPw/s320/2015-06-08+05.51.45.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Then I still had yarn left so went ahead and made a pair of bed socks for me - again Sew As You Go project. Got a little fanciful with a little cream stripe or two in the cuffs. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgek4e9ZgqJiz5DDAW3jDV_pPiJuWJi9SR76Qo6JoXdgqXdYC-qwhug3w8BkLMIDOeTiZWkbXd_BPAMn-ahYkpboc5yRUtvRtSjxKFI7zjhAtshyAazw7CHY-h4fzwIwKynMVBl7Ne3u_A/s1600/2015-06-08+05.50.57.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgek4e9ZgqJiz5DDAW3jDV_pPiJuWJi9SR76Qo6JoXdgqXdYC-qwhug3w8BkLMIDOeTiZWkbXd_BPAMn-ahYkpboc5yRUtvRtSjxKFI7zjhAtshyAazw7CHY-h4fzwIwKynMVBl7Ne3u_A/s320/2015-06-08+05.50.57.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
The Roselan isn't a really soft cushy yarn so I washed the socks and that did the trick - much better.<br />
<br />
I still have some Roselan left - mmmmm I wonder what I'll use that for? I'm sure something will come to mind soon.<br />
<br />
While in "Sock Mode" I made a couple of pair using odds and ends of yarn just to use it up.<br />
<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This pair are Sew As You Go - Unsure of the yarn used.</div>
<br />
Next on my agenda is 10 pairs of mittens for the Red Cross Winter Program that will be handed in to them in September. These are done on my Studio 155 with ribber (bulky 9.0 mm). May incorporate some nice fair isle designs this time.<br />
<br />
Also have some beautiful blue yarn I want to use for a cardigan for myself. <br />
<br />
Stay tuned!<br />

Child's Raglan Sleeve with Pouch Pocket</h2>
I found this little pattern in one of Irene Wood's books "LK 150 Classics - 19 Patterns for Men, Women and Children" and thought I would give it a try. This pattern works up very quickly so I decided instead of having a lot of hand manipulating of a centre panel on the front I would put my garter bar to use and do a simple pouch pocket. <br />
<br />
Great granddaughter has hinted she would like a sweater with this pocket feature so this will be my trial run until I get her measurements from her mom (my oldest granddaughter). I followed the instructions for a size 6.<br />
<br />
I used a single strand of Bramwell Roselan on my LK150 at T3 and it was just like knitting through air! I love that yarn and so did my machine! I have enough left to make a pair of socks or slippers to go with the sweater. I didn't start with a full cone so I really don't know how much yarn I actually used.<br />
<br />
Here a couple of photos of the final product. I am rather pleased and hopefully it will fit. If not it will go into my Charity Box and a larger size made for Evalynne. These little ones grow so fast it is hard to keep up with them!<br />

I personally own many of her books and find them very easy to follow as I work through one of her patterns.Marg Coehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02451867042965379059noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1118029231257044845.post-50743818426629288382015-05-09T17:44:00.002-07:002015-05-18T16:37:09.193-07:00<h2>
Knit Club Project for April was a Shawl</h2>
In April our knit club decided we would take a basic shawl pattern and attempt to make it using a punch card or hand manipulating stitches to create something pretty but serviceable. Members were encouraged to make changes to the basic pattern - no holds barred on this project.<br />
<br />
Our member Krys did a great presentation offering a pattern well in advance of our knit-in to encourage our members to try something on their own. Work with punch cards or hand manipulation patterns that weren't being used normally. In other words "something different" that was also a bit of a challenge. They could either start it at home to complete at our knit-in or start from scratch at the knit-in and possibly finish at home.<br />
<br />
Krys showed many samples of her shawls using tuck and fairisle. Photos hopefully will be made available for me to put up on my blog.<br />
<br />
I decided to work with my LK 150 for this project. The yarn I chose was James C. Brett's Baby Marble Double Knit color BM5 (produced by Monarch Mills In England - his website is <a href="http://www.jamescbrett.co.uk/">www.jamescbrett.co.uk</a> if you are interested in this yarn now available here in Canada and probably in the U.S.A. as well). <br />
<br />
The yarn has a grading of color from cream through shades of beige to brown then pale to dark blue. This was a beautiful yarn to work with as it seems to love tension 4. The carriage slid back and forth easily throughout the project.<br />
<br />
Now bearing in mind that lately it seems I can't have too many things going on at the same time throughout a project I'm knitting I decided to keep it simple and utilize some tools I should be using more often. One of which will transfer every other stitch over nine stitches at the same time and also my garter bar was an option as well.<br />
<br />
On the left side of the shawl I followed Diana Sullivan's "Decorative No Roll Edge" that she showed to us in April and it really works - go to <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XztMJV4ERBo">https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XztMJV4ERBo</a> and you will see for yourself. Thank you Diana for this great gem of a technique. I will most certainly be using it I the future.<br />
<br />
I worked on an eight row pattern. Starting with 8 rows of stockinet stitch then transferring every other stitch but leaving 6 stitches on the left to do the Decorative No Roll Edge and increasing and or decreasing on the right keeping five stitches unworked in pattern throughout. It really turned out quite nice - I have blocked it but still think I'll do a crochet edging along the ends and bottom of the shawl just for added length and weight. I used almost all of two 100 gram balls on this project so far so any additional edging will get the third ball involved for sure.<br />
<br />
Here are a couple of photos of the shawl so far. Updates to come with hopefully more photos of what our members have come up with at our May meeting! Click on the photos if you wish to enlarge them.<br />

Tea Cozy </h2>
Recently I saw a cute toque in one of my knitting newsletters. I was in need of a new tea cozy and thought this would be a very cute project for a wintery afternoon. So I wound up some yarn, settled down to my Singer 155 and decided to try 2 x 2 rib for the main sections of the cozy. The pattern indicated casting on 38 sts and knitting about 7 inches (this was for the hat). So I set up for the tea cozy over 35 needles and knit a length of 40 rows for about 8.5 inches. Transferred the sts from the ribber to the main bed and knit one row of stockinette. Took the stitches off on garter bar but you could take them off with waste yarn. Made another exactly the same. <br />
<br />
The next step was to hang both sections side by side on the machine over the 70 stitches. I knit 4 rows then I transferred every third stitch to make eyelets. Put all emptied needles back in work and knit 4 rows ending with COR.<br />
<br />
Now this is the fun part! Put all stitches except 4 on the carriage side to hold - and set carriage to hold as well. Now knit 20 rows or whatever length you want. Keep weight on the i-cord you are making and just knit in plain stockinette. Hang a claw weight under the long i-cord you just made (beneath the needle bed) put next four needles to the left in work position. and then transfer the four with the I-cord on them to those needles and knit another 20 or so rows. Continue with this all the way across. When you come to the last four do the transfer as usual and knit one row at a higher tension and then crochet cast off last 4 sts.<br />
<br />
Finally I made another I-cord over 3 needles for 80 rows and used this to weave in and out of the eyelets I made earlier. Pulled it tight making sure all the loops are out and on top. Tie the i-cord securely and make a nice little bow.<br />
<br />
Then I seamed the sides to accommodate the spout and handle on my teapot. Got all the ends sewn in and voila a cute little tea cozy. I think I have fallen in love with 2 x 2 rib now! Love it!<br />
<br />
Here it is:<br />

Hand Knitting for a Change!</h2>
I found this adorable little hoodie pattern and as I wasn't able to do much with my machine knitting due to feeling a lot under the weather so I decided to amuse myself and knit this little gem.<br />
<br />
I used Paton's Canadiana yarn which made up a lovely warm hoodie that I think might fit my great granddaughter Evalynne. If not I can always make it again in a larger size. She is very petite and I'm hoping this one will do. Needles used were 4.5 mm and 4.0 mm. <br />
<br />
The pattern can be located here if you want to give it a try. <a href="http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/toddler-raglan-hoodie">http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/toddler-raglan-hoodie</a> - it is a free pattern.<br />

Get Well Soon Present for my Granddaughter Maddy!</h2>
My granddaughter Maddy had her tonsils out on Tuesday December 16th. She is one little trooper, no complaints just getting through the process day by day. I was able to spend a few hours with her on Thursday the 18th and lo and behold she with her mom and dad came to visit us last evening.<br />
<br />
I had just finished a little sweater she wanted so I was able to get a photo of her wearing it home!<br />
It is just a basic set in sleeve, crew neck sweater with a shorter body length that she wanted. Not sure of that but who am I to argue!<br />
<br />
Here she is wearing her new sweater. Looking a little solemn but understandably as her throat is still pretty sore but she is talking!<br />

This little project was made on my Singer 360 with ribber. Used Bramwell 4 ply and the color is a medium grey mix using a basic Knitware pattern for her size with minor adjustments. The next one we will do for Maddy will be in blue - either blue denim or medium blue to wear with her jeans... Iwant to try something with a little more texture to it. Saw a couple of photos the other day and thought one of them might be just the ticket. Stay tuned! </div>

Checking out my stash to see what I have on hand. It only takes about 300 grams to knit this sweater so one cone is usually plenty for this petite young lady. She is 15 and doing very well at school. Even scheduled her surgery so she would only miss 4 days but had all her work done up beforehand. Great work ethics for such a young person. So proud of her!</div>

Our Knit Club Christmas Luncheon 2014</h2>
On December 8th we got together for a Christmas Luncheon. This is the hall we use provided by the Cambridge Street Baptist Church which gives us lots of room to "play" with full kitchen facilities and of course washrooms plus free parking area for our cars. We love it here and feel so blessed to have this available to us for our monthly knit club meeting and knit-ins.<br />
<br />
We ordered Swiss Chalet Festive dinners which were delivered so we didn't have to cook or bring anything (except a few brought some lovely dessert goodies) We have been doing this for the past few luncheons (in June and December) and it really works well for us.<br />
<br />
Here are some of the photos I took and as you can see we are having a very good time indeed.<br />

A Little Boys Sweater</h2>
Finally have a photo of the little cardigan I made for Justin - the new baby boy that got the little elephant I hand knit.<br />
<br />
This sweater was fun - even tried a buttonhole and button band vertically which worked out just great. Had never done one of those before or if I did I had long forgotten how to do it. Checked by ribber manual and followed the instructions which worked out without a hitch.<br />
<br />
Here is the little guys sweater - I used Knitware for the pattern and Bernat Softee yarn. The yarn does split easily but is so soft and cuddly for a wee baby that I thought it would do for this project.<br />

An Elephant for a new little baby boy - Justin </h2>
My grandson Patrick has a new little nephew - namely Justin. Patrick asked if I would knit a hoodie or sweater for Justin and I decided I would add a little elephant toy for him as well. Sweaters are in the works and should be done shortly.<br />
<br />
The elephant I did after seeing a course to make "Wee Ones" on Craftsy. I bought the program and thoroughly enjoyed working along making this little elephant. You can watch or follow the pattern on your own or both - whatever works for you.<br />
<br />
I have done a few of the courses on <a href="http://www.craftsy.com/">www.craftsy.com</a> and although it is hand knitting I have learned all kinds of things that I either had forgotten or never knew anything about! Such fun to have a hand knit project on hand when just sitting watching TV or waiting around while hubby has a doctor's appointment... <br />
<br />
Here are some photos of this little fellow/gal - you can also make a hippo or a bunny with this same pattern - that's three different heads that fit on the same body - just the tails and heads are different but lots of fun to make and super fast.<br />

Christmas Stockings</h2>
Every year our Knit Club make up Christmas Stockings for the Women's Resource Centre to be filled by donations from local merchants. So this year I did three and just have great fun playing around with designs. Used my LK 150 mid-gauge machine for all three this year.<br />
<br />
Here they are hanging on my yarn tree:<br />

Some more fairisle and another topper - not crazy about this one but still something different.<br />
<br />
If you want to make some of these up yourself here is the basic pattern. <br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Each year our knit club members try to get at least 5 pairs of mittens done during the summer break. This year I decided to try to get 10 done and I did. The pattern I chose is done on my bulky with ribber (for cuffs) and a pattern that I'm putting in here in case you want to do some mittens for family, friends or charity projects.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Here is the link to the .PDF file ~ <a href="https://www.dropbox.com/s/skjtbck4sup6nhh/Flat%20MK%20Mittens%20.pdf?dl=0" target="_blank">Flat MK Mittens for Bulky</a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
If you don't have a ribber then of course you can relatch or do mock rib cuffs instead.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
This is a great little project to use up odds and ends of yarn. It really takes very little yarn to make a pair of mittens.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Betty a very good friend and also a member of the club decided to crochet her mittens this year and they turned out to be amazing. I love her bright cheery colors and also I'm impressed with how nice and thick these mittens are. They will keep some hands warm this winter for sure.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Okay now I have to knit up a few more pairs for the grand and great grandkids plus some slippers for my basket at the front door for guests to wear when they visit. Usually they take them home with them but frequent visitors keep theirs here for future visits.</div>

<span style="font-size: large;">Sweaters</span> ..... <span style="font-size: x-small;">(Click on Photos to enlarge)</span><br />
<br />
Over the last little while I have been busy and not doing as much knitting as I would like but sometimes life just gets in the way. However I have managed to get a little done and have plans for more this summer.<br />
<br />
My granddaughter Maddy wanted a red sweater so she picked out the yarn and I was able to get this one done for her.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj1-Ttp5b90tfegEIwNy39l9rivIrS38pqzzcR2YjkXaSZv1ZoILjyBAKztkmMEP9rMg_XjWzLd8pu7E1rcVjafzN3GWigXiPkE9sGGbR7Dgy9zJWOh5f_hdp8HjE7Jfr_Vfobgk_kgAss/s1600/Marg's+sweater.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj1-Ttp5b90tfegEIwNy39l9rivIrS38pqzzcR2YjkXaSZv1ZoILjyBAKztkmMEP9rMg_XjWzLd8pu7E1rcVjafzN3GWigXiPkE9sGGbR7Dgy9zJWOh5f_hdp8HjE7Jfr_Vfobgk_kgAss/s1600/Marg's+sweater.jpg" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
This was a basic pattern with set in sleeves and a wider neckline (which she really likes) made with Forsell 4 ply Superwash Wool which was a joy to work with. The "red" is more like a maroon shade but she chose it and was really happy with the final result. I used my trusty Singer 360 standard machine with ribber for this one and it was a pattern I created using my Knitware program. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
While sitting in waiting rooms over the past couple of months for various appointments and tests for my husband I got some hand knitting on the go to pass the time. I saw these cute patterns in KP (Knitting Paradise) and just had to give them a go. Also wanted to see if I could convert these patterns to my knitting machine and I really think it is do-able! A lot of increasing in the yoke but that could be done with a garter bar. Another project to tackle. I do love this little sweater and then tried another similar but with sleeves that turned out nicely.</div>
